Can I claim the First Home Owners Grant with Domaine Homes?
Am I eligible?
Before heading straight into the application you must ensure you’re eligible based off the following criteria;
You must be aged 18 years or above
You or the person you’re building with, must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
You nor your spouse cannot have previously owned a property in Australia that you have lived in
You must intend to live in the home as a principle place of residence within 1 year of the completed transaction, and for at least 6 months
Now that you’ve concluded you’re eligible for the grant, it’s time to begin the building process itself. The grant can be paid at different times so it’s best not to factor it into the deposit, however, keep in mind it will be available eventually.
Whether you’re thinking to build a single or double storey home, our friendly consultants will be able to help you through the process and discuss your options. Alternatively, if you’re considering a house and land package, make sure you check out our blog post on the ‘Benefits of House and Land Packages’ to find out whether they’re more suitable to your current situation. Applying for the Grant
If you’ve decided to build your dream home, you’ll need to apply for the grant within 1 year of the build completion. An example of this timeline is when you receive the final inspection certificate. The application for First Home Owners Grant will not affect your build time.
You can apply through an email or mail to the Office of State Revenue, an approved bank or through a lender, the terms and conditions surrounding this are available on the Queensland Government website.
If you’re applying through a bank or lender, it’s best to mention your application when you’re first consulting them about a loan. That way they can understand your circumstances and how to get you into your dream home easier.
Receiving the grant
Once the build is complete and Domaine Homes have issued you your final inspection certificate before handover, you can go ahead and finish your application for the grant. You’ll have received all of the supporting documents needed from the build from Domaine but we’ll continue to help in any way we can.
